There have been many reports which have concluded that coffee is bad for you. However, there is an increasing amount of research which shows that coffee could be good for you. Here are some reasons why.
Coffee contains antioxidants. Antioxidants are thought to be protective against cancer, heart disease, and some age related diseases. Although coffee has lower levels of antioxidants than tea, it can still be beneficial for your health, researchers say.
Researcher published recently showed that coffee could also help to prevent type 2 diabetes. The number of cases of this type of diabetes is on the increase and anything that could help to prevent this type of diabetes is a good thing.
Coffee can keep you more alert. Starting the day with a cup of coffee can kick start your morning or keep you alert in the evenings when you might be tired after a long day. Drinking coffee is also a good way of keeping you awake if you have a long night ahead of you and you need to do exam revision or similar.
It is also thought that drinking coffee could help you live longer. Researchers recently analysed several studies into the health effects of coffee and said that those consuming coffee on a regular basis were less likely to suffer from heart failure. The researchers suggest limiting your coffee consumption to moderate amounts a day - around four cups - and not to consume excessive amounts; the researchers considered 10 cups a day excessive.
Coffee isn’t good for everyone though. If you have a condition such as an irregular heartbeat then the caffeine contained in it could make it worse. Too much caffeine can also make your hands tremble. Some people don’t tolerate caffeine for other reasons and if that is the case, then they should stay away from it.
