Review: Fujifilm Finepix S2900 Slr Camera

I’ve only recently developed an interest in photography. I had previously only ever used a camera to take pictures for auctions, but in recent years have been using a digital camera for taking pictures of local landscapes and for taking pictures of flowers etc.

As I’ve started to take photography more seriously, I realised that I needed something with more features than my usual point and shoot digital camera. I wanted something with a macro function so I could take clear close ups and pick up tiny details. I also wanted something I could use for low light pictures, and

something which would easily adapt to changing light.

After reading varying reviews, I decided to by the Fujifilm FinePix S2900. It’s a SLR camera and was priced at less than £110, which I thought was a reasonably priced, and I was just starting out so I didn’t want to spend too much.

It comes with four AA batteries, a USB cable, a strap, lens cap and CD-ROM for installation. The camera has additional features such as instant zoom, face detection, adjustable image sizes and ISO options. I can also film panoramas,

and I can choose between taking pictures in colour or black and white.

I haven’t had as much use of it as I would like so far due to the poor weather, but I’ve used it around the house and was pleased with how well it worked without the need for flash, and how well it adapted to the changing light conditions when they were dimmed.

I’ve used it outside to take some flower pictures; the macro option worked well and picked up the tiny details which my other camera hadn’t. The colours look great and the black and white pictures have atmosphere.

The camera doesn’t come with a memory card so you need one of these before you can start taking pictures, and you’ll need a camera bag to protect it if you intend to travel. Overall, I would recommend this to anyone new to using a SLR camera.
